Emily Allen - Office Assistant 3

Emily began working at Spokane Community College in the Admissions and Registration office in 2024 and holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Oregon in cinema and a Master of Fine Arts from Eastern Washington in creative writing. She enjoys being a part of the Spokane community and attending literary events held throughout the year in the city.

Courtney Anderson - Curriculum Advisor

Hi, my name is Courtney. I was born and raised in Spokane but have traveled extensively across the U.S. and a bit around Europe. I have a bachelor’s in international relations and spent a semester in Morocco for part of my degree. During that time, I spent a week in Barcelona and a couple days in Frankfurt on the way back home.

I also have a master’s in organizational leadership, with a focus on diversity, equity, access, and inclusion, and spent some time pursuing a consulting career, but ultimately decided I missed higher education. Prior to joining SCC, I worked at EWU as a Study Abroad advisor and at WSU as a Multicultural Center Manager. As a First-Generation college student, I love to bring my experience to assist students in knowing they aren’t alone in the process.

Outside of work you’ll find me at concerts and music festivals or finding new spots to eat; most of my traveling is for music festivals or new restaurants I find on the Food Network Channel. My family and I also enjoy camping, skiing, and paddle boarding, when the weather cooperates!

Lydia Binger - ABE Pathway Specialist

Hello, my name is Lydia Binger, and I’m new to Spokane, so far, I’m really enjoying it! I hold a Bachelor of Science in Public Health with a minor in Health Education from San Francisco State University, where I also competed on the Women’s Track and Field team. Currently, I’m pursuing my master’s in health and Wellness Management through the University of Cincinnati Online. Outside of work, I enjoy attending sporting events, spending time outdoors, reading, and connecting with friends. I’m excited to be part of the SCC team and look forward to supporting students on their academic journeys!

Chantel Black - Director of Admissions and Registration

Hello, I’m Chantel! I have worked at Spokane Community College since 2017 and in the student services field for over 22 years. I graduated with my bachelor’s degree from Austin Graduate School of Theology as a first-generation college student and later earned my master’s degree from the University of Idaho. I am passionate about helping others become the best version of themselves, whatever that means to them, including removing unintended barriers, helping students access services on campus, or generally making processes easier. When I am not at work, you can often find me traveling, camping, knitting, or enjoying time with friends and family.

Ashlee Brown - Credentials Evaluator 3

Ashlee graduated from Eastern Washington University with a degree in English and a minor in Film. She joined SCC over 4 years ago where she started in the Non-Credit Registration department and has recently joined the Transcripts and Records team.

Sheri Carroll - Manager of Admissions

Hi, I’m Sheri Carroll. I have been at SCC for more than 25 years. I received my AA degree from SFCC and have a B.A. in Business Administration from EWU. I recently fulfilled one of my bucket list items by going to Green Bay, WI and watching a Packers game at Lambeau Field. I have been married for 25 years and have two wonderful kids, a cat named Neko and a beagle named Farah.

Kris Christensen (she/her) - Testing Center Manager

Kris has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in creative writing, both from Eastern Washington University. Her favorite part of working at SCC is helping students gain confidence and a sense of belonging. She grew up on a ranch in Stevens County and now raises coturnix quail in her Spokane backyard. She also loves fiber arts (hand and machine embroidery, quilting, sewing) but will not hem your pants.

Hank Cunnington (he/him) - Testing Assistant

Hank is a writer and artist. He has a BA in English – Creative Writing from Eastern Washington University and worked at SFCC starting in 2023. He lives in Nine Mile Falls with his fianc and their three dogs, three cats, three horses, and one very old chicken. He is happy to provide pet photos, just ask. He is also a lover of books (maybe more so than reading them) and a big fan of crocheting and knitting.

Isaac Dickman - Tech Ed Pathway specialist

I'm Isaac Dickman, I have a bachelor's degree in psychology from Eastern Washington University, I previously worked at EWU's tutoring department and before that I was a preschool teacher! I chose SCC because I found the work I did at EWU to be incredibly rewarding and wanted to continue to make an impact in the lives of college students! Some of my hobbies include biking, archery, and hiking. I also enjoy skiing during the winter! I love a variety of different foods, but gyros are one of my absolute favorites! I have lived in Spokane for my whole life. Both my parents live in Spokane too, as do my older brother and my sister-in-law. A fun fact about me is that I have an identical twin brother as well who lives in Spokane too and is finishing up on becoming an accountant.

Kelli Elliot - Curriculum Advisor

Hello, my name is Kelli Elliott, I am a Curriculum Advisor in the Admissions Office at SCC. I have been employed 17 years in higher education and love every aspect of student success. Everyday challenges working with students, amplifies the rewards at the end of their journey here, only to move on out into the work force or transferring to a university to intensify their degrees. My family moved here from Minnesota in 1996. I have three children, my husband has three also, so between us, we share 13 grandchildren. We enjoy camping and traveling in our motorhome, riding E-bikes, jet skiing on the beautiful lakes in Washington, spending time with family and enjoying the outdoors. I am also a die-hard MINNESOTA VIKING fan. (SKOL)

Holly Garrabrant (she/her) - Testing & Assessment Coordinator

Holly wakes up to Ministry blaring, drinks her ‘NASA launch day’ strong coffee and remembers, ‘Panem et circenses’ –as she dances with her dogs before work. It is little wonder she is full of joy at work!

Neesa Guel - Credentials Evaluator 3

I started working here at SCC in February of 2023, but my journey with SCC began in the Administrative Office Management program which I graduated from in 2022. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Business Management at Whitworth University. As a student first, I am driven to remove the barriers that our students experience. A fun fact about me is that I am a second-degree black belt in Taekwondo, and I opened my first business teaching Taekwondo when I was 18 years old.

Prior to joining SCC, I worked for Spokane County before deciding to make the switch to better serve the community. I’m passionate about education and the opportunities it creates, and I look forward to working with the team at SCC and supporting others in achieving their academic goals.

Kerrin Langford - Rural Counties Pathway Specialist

Kerrin’s journey has taken her around the world—from Dubai to Anchorage, Houston to Phoenix, Portland to Fort Wayne, and through several Southern California cities—before finally settling in Colville, Washington. After 17 successful years in banking, she retired and set sights on a new chapter in education.

Since entering academia in April 2022, Kerrin has found a passion for serving her community, especially by empowering youth. As someone with ADHD and Autism, she deeply understands the importance of encouragement, support, and representation for those who don’t always receive it. While working full-time, she earned a bachelor’s degree and two associate degrees, demonstrating the resilience she now hopes to inspire in others.

Kerrin is committed to helping students who face challenges—whether they’re balancing work and school or navigating life as a neurodivergent learner. Her goal is to show that every path is worth pursuing and to uplift those who may not yet believe in their own potential.

Phil Lavergne - BHIT Pathway Specialist

Hello! My name is Phil Lavergne. I moved here from Denver, Colorado about a year ago to experience all the great things I’ve heard about the PNW – and so far, I’m loving it! I graduated from MSU Denver with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and mathematics and spent most of my undergraduate career working as a Teaching/Learning Assistant in multiple departments. Outside of work, I enjoy watching Star Trek TNG, gaming (even tabletop!) on a few different systems, and I really love camping! The scenery here in the PNW is awesome so I know I can find great spots to set up. Another fun fact about me is that I’m originally from Louisiana. I don’t get to fly home too often, but I always eat a lot when I do. I am so excited to join the team at SCC as it gives me the opportunity to continue to give back to the community and help those who will help build our future.

Marissa Lock - Associate Registrar

Marissa joined Spokane Community College as a Credentials Evaluator 3 in 2024 and currently serves as the Associate Registrar. Previously, she worked as a project manager all over the world while supporting her spouse's military career.  Marissa is originally from Pennsylvania but fell in love with Spokane during her family's first military assignment and is thrilled to be settled back into the community. She has a bachelor's degree in Recreation, Sport & Tourism Management from the University of Illinois.

Jeanette Mari - Office Assistant 3 

Jeanette earned her Office Assistant Certificate (’06) and her Administrative Assistant AAS (’08) from Spokane Falls Community College and has been at Community Colleges of Spokane for over 15 years. Her journey has come full circle, and she takes pride in contributing to the community that shaped her education. Jeanette has a deep love for purple, which always brings her joy and inspiration.

Katherine Murray (she/her) - Testing Assistant

Katherine runs the front desk in the Testing Center and schedules testing for students with disability accommodations. She also supports math placement outreach.

Katherine is currently studying her family genealogy and traveling to places her ancestors lived. She is planning a trip with her mother to Trochu, Alberta, Canada this summer to find out more about her grandfather.

Kayla Nadile - Office Assistant 3 

Kayla started working for Spokane Community College in 2019 in the Non-Credit Registration Department. She moved to Spokane from the Tri-Cities and has enjoyed the experience of working with our students. Kayla believes in the importance of accessible education for everyone and that is what motivates her. In her free time, Kayla enjoys working on art projects and spending time outdoors.

Emory O’Connor - Allied Health and Academic Transfer Pathway Specialist

My name is Emory Shaye O’Connor, I grew up here in Spokane and attended Spokane Falls Community College before transferring to Eastern Washington University where I graduated with a degree in Communications. Before that, I took a few gap years and lived in Montana after high school to work and figure out what I wanted to go to school for. I currently live in Spokane Valley with my girlfriend Amidy and our spoiled dog Koda. I am also actively pursuing my JD degree with having just finished my admissions test. Before working at Spokane Community College, I worked extensively in auto mechanics and as a legal assistant for a private defense firm here in Spokane. In my free time I enjoy playing golf in the spring/summer and playing hockey in the fall/winter. I also enjoy hanging out with friends or camping with my girlfriend and our dog. I look forward to working with and getting to know everyone here at Spokane Community College!

Randi Rogers - BHIT and Academic Transfer Pathway Specialist

Hey there, my name is Randi Rogers. I moved to Spokane this Summer all the way from Stockton, California. So far, I love the nature that is present in this lovely city. Before I joined SCC, I worked for California State University, Stanislaus at the Basic Needs Center and in the Campus Recreation Center. Outside of work, I love spending time with my miniature schnauzer, walking the aisles of Trader Joe's and being near the river. I hold associate degrees in Psychology. Anthropology, and Humanities. I also recently graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and am currently working towards my Master of Arts in Education. Working in education is a passion of mine and being able to serve the students here at SCC is a dream come true. In the future, I hope to become a professor and teach psychology and education courses while traveling around the United States in my Honda CR-V with my dog.

Kim Rose - Pathway Specialist

My mom was a HeadStart teacher for CCS for 22 years. She recommended I apply to SCC to assist students with their future. My mom and I were one of the first mother/daughter to work for CCS. I have worked for SCC 39.5 years. Excitedly looking forward to my 40 years of service award! I love old school music especially Disco music.

Shari Soto - Credentials Evaluator 3

Shari has worked at SCC in Transcripts for 2 and half years. Shari was excited to work at SCC because she wanted to continue working in education after leaving teaching after 15 years. Shari has a Bachelor of Arts in liberal studies, a teaching credential in both general education and special education, and a master’s degree in special education. A fun fact about Shari is that she enjoys gardening and inflicting her harvests upon unsuspecting friends, family, and colleagues.

Margaret Stussi - Administrative Assistant 3

Margaret’s career for Spokane Colleges began in 2013 as an interim Administrative Assistant for Library Services and eLearning for both Spokane Community College and Spokane Falls Community College. She then served for nine years as the Program Assistant in the Adult Education Division and currently serves as the Administrative Assistant in Admissions and Registration. When not working Margaret enjoys singing in choirs and has been doing so since she was in kindergarten.

Krystal Taylor - Admissions and Registration Specialist

Krystal has worked for SCC since 2020. She performs beginning and end of term processes such as term-activating students, assigning enrollment appointments, generating class permission codes, posting grades, and processing academic standing. She works with CRM, queries, service indicators and student group coding, and maintains internal calendars.

Krystal runs on caffeine and requires a quad-shot Americano to survive! In her off time, she enjoys game nights, binge-watching bad TV and spending time with her husband, Ben, and their 2 dogs, Jake and Sugar!

Kerry Templeton - ABE Pathway Specialist

I have been a part of the Spokane Community College community for just over four years. I chose SCC because it offers a wide variety of programs and serves a diverse student body. My past education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and two teaching credentials in Elementary Education and Special Education. I find joy in the simple things of life, and I especially enjoy coffee dates with my husband, spending time with family and friends, listening to music, and taking long walks with my dog.

Liz Tomes - Curriculum Advisor

I'm a full-time working professional, full-time student, and—most importantly—a proud mom of two awesome kids. Life is busy, but I thrive in the chaos and find strength in my family. I'm currently pursuing a degree in software development, working hard to build a future for us all. When I’m not juggling work and school, you’ll find me cheering at a hockey game or spending quality time with my wonderful spouse, Sean. Family, love, and laughter keep me grounded.

Sam Verhei - Testing and Assessment Coordinator

Sam Verhei works as a Coordinator for the Testing and Assessment office at Spokane Community College. Sam holds a Masters in Sociology and is currently on track to completing a PhD. Sam enjoys Disney parks and movies taking as many Disney-related vacations as possible. Disney fun fact: The Sorcerer in Fantasia is named Yen Sid. (Read it backwards.)

Alex Vershubsky - Admissions and Registration Specialist

Hi, everyone! I’m excited to be here and join the team. I enjoy working with data to find insights that support better decisions, and I’m always looking to learn something new. I consider myself a curious, open-minded, and tech-savvy person who enjoys solving problems and finding new, better ways to do things. Outside of work, I’m into travel, photography, soccer, and video games. I love discovering new cultures and perspectives - it keeps life interesting and helps me grow both personally and professionally. I’m looking forward to getting to know you all and contributing wherever I can!

Katty Vershubsky - Office Assistant 3

My name is Katty, and I’m originally from Russia. I have been living in the US for the past six years, and it’s been an exciting journey. I love traveling and learning about new places, cultures, and people. I have a degree in Sociology, and I’m truly happy to use my experience to support and connect with students.
