ABE Graduation Ceremony 2024

Previous Adult Basic Education Graduation CeremonyAdult Basic Education graduation ceremony recognizes graduates from the following programs:

  • High School Completion (HS+)
  • General Education Diploma (GED)
  • English As a Second Language (ESL)

Students who graduated or have completed the program requirements between July 2023 and June 2024 are invited to attend the ceremony.

Graduates will receive an email the first week of May to fill out RSVP. To participate in the graduation ceremony, an RSVP is required.

Cap and Gown Pick Up

Caps and gowns will be available for pick up at the following locations and times.

SCC bookstore, located in the Lair Student Center
Dates: June 3 through June 10, 2024
Times: Monday - Thursday 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. and Fridays 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Adult Education Center, 2310 North Monroe Street, Spokane, Washington 99205 on the following dates and times ONLY:

Students do not need to reserve these in advance. Caps and gowns are not available sooner than June 3rd, and they are not mailed to students. If a student is not available to pick up in-person, they may have a family member or friend pick up for them.

There is no cost for caps and gowns.

When picking up caps and gowns, graduates will receive additional information about the commencement ceremony.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Graduates must pick up their cap and gown in advance.
  • There is no “ticket” to the event. Admission for students and all guests is FREE and unlimited.
  • Graduates are expected to arrive by 5:30 pm for processional line-up, wearing their cap and gown.
  • Students should bring only what they will carry throughout the ceremony. There is NO a place available to leave personal bags or belongings.
  • Graduates are expected to participate in the complete ceremony, which should conclude by 7:30 pm.

Accommodations

Wheelchair accessibility will be available via ramp for students participating in the ceremony. Students needing assistance in walking or staying off their feet for an extended period of time are encouraged to let staff know when they check in.

Wheelchair seating for guests is available near the front of the stage.

Sign language interpreters will be positioned near the front of the stage.

Diplomas

Students participating in the ceremony will not receive their diploma during the ceremony. They will receive a diploma cover. Diplomas will be mailed out after completion of spring quarter, so we can verify students successfully completed their spring classes and credits needed for their program.

Photos

Photos of individual graduates will be taken at the ceremony by our partner, After Image Visual Services. Order forms will be available at cap and gown pick-up and at the ceremony. There is a charge to order photos. Specific costs and package options will be available at the ceremony.
