Testing for SCC Online & Flex Students
For Students
In some online and flex courses at SCC, instructors may require that students test in a supervised (proctored) setting. Your instructor will select the day(s) for your class to test. On the day(s) specified by your instructor, you may test any time we are open. You do not need an appointment.
Please note:
-
You must bring a picture ID to check in for your test. The name on your ID must match your name in ctcLink.
-
For computer-based tests be sure you know your password(s).
-
Your instructor will tell us what you are allowed to bring into the testing area. All other items must be placed in a locker we provide. Cell phones, smart watches, and mechanical pencils are not allowed.
-
No food or drink are allowed in the testing area.
-
All tests must be completed 15 minutes before our closing time. Be sure to allow enough time to complete your test.
For Faculty
For course modalities In-Person (P) or Hybrid (H):
To request proctoring for a student in a hybrid or in-person class whose extraordinary circumstances prevent them from testing with their class, use the Proctored Testing Exception Form. Testing for students in hybrid or in-person classes is offered on a limited basis and requires permission from the instructional dean and Director of Admissions and Registration.
For course modalities Online Asynchronous with In-Person (OB), Flexible (FL), or Online Scheduled with In-Person (OW):
Use the "Submit a Proctoring Request" button below to request proctoring services for classes with OB, FL, or OW modalities. We do not make appointments for class testing. You will determine a time frame during which your students can test on a walk-in basis.
To protect the integrity of your exams and ensure a positive testing experience for your students, we have implemented the following guidelines:
- Use the button below to submit your proctoring requests for the entire quarter during the first two weeks of the quarter.
- In the event that the demand for testing exceeds our capacity, proctoring requests will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Paper/pencil tests: At least two days prior to the first testing date, provide the testing center with an adequate number of copies of the exam as well as any additional handout materials. Instructor name and class must be on tests. We do not have the resources to print exams.
- Barring unforeseen circumstances, paper/pencil tests will be available for pickup starting at 8:30 a.m. the next business day after the close of the test. This allows us sufficient time to reconcile the tests against our testing records.
- Computer-based exams:
- We only proctor web-based exams. We are not able to download and install software.
- Due to constant changes in technology, we are unable to guarantee that particular online exams can be proctored on our computers. If you are using products other than MyLab and Mastering, McGraw-Hill Connect, or Canvas, extra time may be needed for us to test the product on our computers and resolve any technical issues. Call 509-533-7074 to determine if we have tested your chosen product on our testing stations.
- We do not have webcams, so we can’t administer tests in Respondus Monitor. If you intend for some of your students to use Respondus Monitor at another location while others test in the Testing Center, you will need to create a second instance of the test without Respondus Monitor.
- Please submit any changes in proctoring instructions or scheduling by email to SCC.Testing@scc.spokane.edu. To ensure consistency and clarity all changes must be requested in writing.
- Due to the wide variety of tests we proctor simultaneously, and the walk-in nature of online and flex class testing, we do not keep time for students, and we do not intervene when their time is up. However, for paper/pencil tests you will receive a printed report indicating the check-in and check-out times for each of your students.
