Administrative Office Management

If you’re a multi-tasker with strong leadership and organizational skills, a degree in administrative office management could be a good fit for you.

In this program, you develop administrative and communication skills necessary for a position as an office manager, supervisor or as assistant to a top executive. You learn to manage multiple office responsibilities effectively while leading others to achieve organizational goals. The program provides a strong foundation in Microsoft Office, other common software applications, office technologies, and project management.

Detailed Information

College credit toward degree completion may be earned by articulating from a high school business program or by completing comprehensive tests administered by the Business Technology Department.

 

  1. Demonstrate proficiency with computer software applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite.
  2. Explain the principles of human resources.
  3. Apply successful collaboration skills. 
  4. Demonstrate organizational, planning, and project management skills. 
  5. Manage multiple deadlines and priorities. 
  6. Demonstrate information literacy by using professional databases to gather credible information and propose solutions for organizational problems.
  7. Develop effective business communications emphasizing quantitative reasoning and equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Prepare for College-level Math

Math placement is required for this program. If your math placement is below BUS 217, you’ll need to take the following sequence of courses, starting from the level you placed into:
AE 48 → AE 68 → MATH 71 → MATH 72 → BUS 217

Placement

English placement is not required for this program.

The Administrative Office Management program is an associate degree program that prepares students to assume positions as office managers, supervisors, or as assistants to executives. Students will develop administrative skills necessary to participate as part of the management team, assist in planning, organizing, and controlling information related activities, and lead or direct people to attain the objectives of the organization.  They may handle a wide range of daily responsibilities including the supervision of support services.

This program is recommended to experienced office staff as well as entry-level office workers who are looking to increase their potential for promotion. Graduates with this degree receive training in a variety of office management functions including those in communications, information resources, and management.

In order to earn an Administrative Office Management AAS degree, a student must maintain a 2.0 GPA in all individual courses. Math placement may be required depending on the math course you choose. Math options are detailed below.
