Student Government Executive Officers (3 positions)

The President is responsible for overall operations of the student government, particularly the work of the directors (communications, finance, student affairs, equity and diversity). 

The Vice President oversees the student senate and its committees, chairs senate meetings, and helps senators develop events and programs that engage students within the academic division they represent.

The Chief Justice helps ensure the student government’s operations (meetings, funding decisions, policies, etc.) as well as their programs are consistent with the organization’s constitution and other governing documents. They also work with the college and student organizations to advocate for student rights and responsibilities. 

These positions require good communication and interpersonal skills, goal-setting and planning skills, teamwork and collaboration, and a willingness to advocate for students’ needs and interests.

Executive officers are expected to work 15-18 hours per week during the academic year.

Student Government Directors (4 positions)

ASG Directors are responsible for a particular area of the organization’s operations (finance, communications, student affairs, equity and diversity initiatives). Each director is expected to serve on college committees, provide reports to the president about projects and recommendations, and collaborate with college staff on programs and services in their areas of responsibility.

These positions require project management and communication skills – writing is essential in this work.

Directors are expected to work 12-15 hours per week during the academic year

Student Government Senate (6 positions)

The ASG Senate is the legislative body of the government, so it is responsible for establishing policies, approving an annual budget, deciding on student initiatives, and ensuring the organization is operating effectively. Senators represent the needs and interests in specific academic divisions (Technical Education, Arts & Sciences, Health Sciences, etc.) by serving on student government and college committees, meeting faculty and student organizations, and discussing ways to support students.

These positions require good public speaking skills, critical thinking, ability to write and review reports and other documents, and a willingness to advocate for students’ needs and interests. 

Senators are expected to work 12-15 hours per week during the academic year.

Sasquatch Events Team (4-8 positions)

The Events Team is responsible for planning and hosting events around campus throughout the academic year. These can include scavenger hunts, music and entertainment, social events, and educational speakers. The work includes setting up tables and displays, serving snacks and refreshments, greeting event attendees, and much more. 

This work requires good communication skills, willingness to try new things, some creativity and teamwork. These are not independent roles. The group works as a team.

Events Team members are expected to work 12-15 hours per week during the academic year.

Student Media Services (4-6 positions)

The SMS team designs promotional posters for events, takes photos at events, and helps with social media posts and promotions. 

Previous graphic design or photography work is not required for these positions. This work does, however, require a willingness to learn, attention to detail, project management skills and good communication. 

SMS team members are expected to work 12-18 hours per week during the academic year.

Game Room staff members assist students with games, maintain equipment and inventory, and plan and host events.

Previous gaming experience or knowledge is not required. 

Mascot team members work either as the mascot in costume or a handler of the mascot. 

This work does not require strong public speaking skills – the mascot does not speak – but does require a willingness to try new things, to be outgoing in a crowd, be available for some evening and weekend events, and have good physical mobility.

These team members are expected to work 8-18 hours per week during the academic year.

SLC student staff work at the center’s front desk, serving as the first point of contact for guests and phone calls to the center. 

This work requires positive customer service skills, ability to use computer applications like Microsoft Word and Excel, and good communication and organizing skills.

These student staff members are expected to work 15-18 hours per week during the academic year.
