How to Register to Vote in Washington State
To register to vote in Washington, you must be:
- A U.S. citizen
- A legal resident of Washington state
- At least 18 years old
If you are 16 or 17 years old, you can pre-register as a Future Voter. You will be automatically registered to vote when you become eligible. Visit the Washington Secretary of State's Future Voter Program page to learn more.
No Party Registration Required
Washington voters do not register by political party. You may vote for any candidate on your ballot.

Registration Deadlines
- Online or By Mail: Your application must be received at least 8 days before Election Day.
- In Person: You may register up to 8 p.m. on Election Day at any voting center.
