Whether you are looking to enter the job market, or retrain for a new career, the Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Business will build your knowledge of various aspects of business management.
Within this two-year program, you’ll have the flexibility to select from two degree options or specialize in a particular area of business such as entrepreneurship, marketing, or management.

Graduates with a Business A.A.S. pursue a variety of careers, such as: bank clerk, credit clerk, general office clerk, loan application clerk, management trainee, sales, distribution, customer service, and information input specialist. Salaries in Spokane are competitive and increase depending on an individual's skills, experience, motivation, attitude, and ability to interview and promote oneself to employers.
The Business A.A.S. requires a minimum of 92 credit hours.
We also offer an Associate in Business DTA/MRP degree. This a statewide articulated transfer degree agreement for business majors between the community colleges and most four-year institutions in the state of Washington. A candidate for the Associate in Business degree must complete a minimum of 90 quarter credits in academic courses numbered 100 or above with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 and meet specific distribution requirements.
The objective of this program is to permit the student maximum flexibility in designing a two-year program of study in business. The student may specialize in a particular area of business such as marketing, management, project management or entrepreneurship; or select courses that provide a general exposure to several areas of business.
The AAS in Business curriculum serves the student by offering modalities for most every course within the degree path for student convenience.
All students graduating from this program must have a minimum grade of 2.0 on each of the Management, Accounting, Economics, and Business required courses. Students must also have a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average on all required courses in the program.
Math placement is not required for this program.
English placement is required for this program. If your English placement is below ENGL& 101, you’ll need to take following sequence of courses, starting from the level you placed into: AE 36 → AE 46 and 47 (taken together) → AE 67 → ENGL 99 → ENGL& 101

Michael Allen, MBA, is a Professor of Marketing and Entrepreneurship in the SCC School of Business and Legal Studies. He also teaches or has taught at Spokane Falls Community College, Eastern Washington University, Whitworth University and North Idaho College in his 22 years in higher education. Mike loves teaching and working with students to realize their educational goals.
In addition to teaching, Mike has owned businesses and held public office as a Spokane City Council member. He also operates a small wine and travel business called The Cork District. In his free time, he likes to fish, camp, garden and cook great meals for family and friends.
