If you are interested in working in the building-design industry, or you plan to pursue a degree in architecture at a four-year university, this program could put you on the path to your ideal career.
In this program, you’ll learn to produce architectural drawings using computer-aided drafting (CAD) software and tools, such as Revit, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Architecture and SketchUp. Courses develop your understanding of 3-D modeling, building codes, construction materials and methods, cost estimating and green building.
As a graduate of this program, you might work as a drafter, BIM modeler, or designer for architecture firms, or engineering firms (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical). You might also work for contractors, building departments, energy management offices, product suppliers and other design-related or sustainability-related companies. Students are introduced to the work of architects, construction managers, plans examiners and engineers. Students in the landscape architecture pathway may also take elective courses in this program.
