Sasquatch perform at Whitworth Twilight

(Spokane, Wa) - Despite cold temperatures, the Sasquatch turned in a number of season and personal bests once again at the Whitworth Twilight on Thursday evening April 14th on the Boppell track. A small but talented group of throwers and jumpers hit some big marks.

Bradley Fillis picked up a key win against a very competitive field in the men’s hammer throw with his second best throw of the season reaching a distance of 171 feet and 1 inch. This is his second event win of the year.

Fillis also recorded a solid finish in the men’s shot put finishing third overall with a toss of 50 feet and 4.75 inches. He continues to lead the conference in the discus and shot, and is ranked second in the hammer.

Colby Anderson was close to his season best in the hammer throw reaching 131 feet, finishing seventh. Reise Raymond hit a new season best throwing the hammer 105 feet and 9 inches.

In the discus, Colby Anderson reached a new season and personal best with a ten-foot improvement throwing 146 feet. Anderson’s breakout was impressive in that he had a number of competition throws in that same range. Colby and Fillis remain ranked first and second on the NWAC performance list

Adding a season best of his own was Brooks Michael tossing the discus a best 122 feet and 8 inches good for a top eight meet finish and moving him up to number eight on the conference list, giving the Sasquatch heavy metal crew three in the top eight in the conference. Michaels also competed in the men’s shot put finishing seventh with a throw of 42 feet and 3 inches.

Last but not least, Isaiah Cunningham battled the elements in the men’s long jump to equal his season best jumping 19 feet and 11.75 inches, and seventh place finish overall in the meet.

The drive for the NWAC championship becomes the main focus now for the Sasquatch faithful. Three regular season meets remain before the championships on May 23rd - 24th at Mt. Hood CC. Up next for the team is the Central Washington Invite on Saturday, April 23rd on the CWU campus track.
