Sasquatch shine big at Buc Scoring Meet

 

(Spokane, WA) - The Sasquatch flexed their muscles in the warmer weather on Thursday and Friday at the Whitworth Buc Scoring meet on the Boppell Track. What a difference a week and some warmer weather make as the track crews once again collected a number of seasons best and Northwest Athletic Conference leading marks.

Anthony Carlascio's effort in the 1500-meter highlighted the Sasquatch distance runners at this meet. His time of 3:56.64 was a four-second personal record and moved him into #17 all-time at CCS, which also puts him in the conference lead by 10 seconds. 

Gideon Swanson and Joel Martinez also recorded season bests in the 1500-meter race. 

George Gregory ran his first 800-meter of the season and recorded a conference best at 1:58.63, he also ran a 50.7 second leg on the 4x400-meter relay.

Kaidyn Johnson continued her hot streak as she recorded a 16-second personal record in the 1500-meter, while Tressa Wood was only six seconds off her personal record in her debut at 1500-meter in 2022. 

Hurdlers, Kiley Cutler and Miranda Irwin, each ran their best short hurdle races of the year running 17.04 and 17.34, collectively. Irwin also had her best time yet in the 400-meter hurdles running 1:11.31.

Freshman jump specialist, Shelby Irmer collected a double-season best in the long and triple jumps with marks of 16 feet and .5 inches in the long, and 31 feet and 11 inches in the triple jump.

NWAC conference leading performances from Bradley Fillis in the shotput (52 feet and 2.75 inches) and discus (149 feet and 8.50 inches), Jon Watkins in the 400-meter (49.88 seconds) were additional meet highlights.

Fillis remains ranked number two in the hammer throw by less than a foot.

Both the 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relays turned in their best marks of the year and remain ranked second on the conference list. Jon Watkins, Preston Dyess, Dylan Rendahl, and Jake Schnatter ran 43.26 seconds in the 4x100-meter, while Watkins, Gregory, Dyess, and Schnatter just missed the top spot in the conference in the 4x400-meter by just .03 seconds, running their best of the year at 3:24.63.

Dyess had his season best and a personal all time best in the 400-meter race running 52.85. Jake Schnater made his career debut in winning the men’s triple jump with a leap of 41 feet and 7.25 inches.

Jaxson Nichols earned a second-place meet finish with his season best jump of 6 feet and 1.50 inches in the high jump. Brooks Michaelson had a season best in the shotput throwing 44 feet and 1.5 inches. Reise Raymond has his best throw of the year in the javelin with a toss of 143 feet and 7 inches, while Colby Anderson had a season best in the discus and is ranked number two on the conference list at 139 feet and 8 inches.

Up next, is the NNU Invitational at Northwest Nazarene University on the Brian and Nicole Bohner Campus track in Nampa, Idaho on Friday, April 1st and Saturday, April 2nd.  It will be a great reunion for Head Coach John Spatz, who served as the head coach at NNU from 2002-2018.
