Spokane Falls Community College (SFCC) is celebrating its 50th anniversary during the 2017-18 academic year. Started in 1967 as part of Spokane Community College on property that was once Fort George Wright, in 1970, college trustees voted to create two separate, but cooperative colleges, and the Fort Wright campus was renamed Spokane Falls Community College.

Tibetan Buddhist monks from Drepung Loseling Monastery will construct a Mandala Sand Painting next week at Spokane Community College. As part of Welcome Week to welcome students to fall quarter and in honor of the International Day of Peace, SCC’s student activities board is bringing the event to campus.

This summer, Community Colleges of Spokane (CCS) Chancellor Christine Johnson appointed Kevin Brockbank, Ed.D. to serve as Spokane Community College’s acting president for this academic year. Brockbank joined Community Colleges of Spokane in 2015 as vice provost of strategic initiatives in the district office.
