Ms. Marvel comic series writer coming to Spokane

G. Willow Wilson of Seattle, the current writer of the Ms. Marvel comic series, will speak at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, in the Spokane Community College Lair Auditorium (Building 6) and again at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at the SCC Library (Building 16).

“Bread and Circuses:  Exploring the Legacy of the “Real” Martin Luther King Jr.” is the title of the presentation by Darryl Brice, Ph.D., and it explores why a myopic view of King has become the most popular and accepted version of the civil rights leader and what is omitted from most dialogues about King’s life and legacy.

A student at Spokane Community College who was the recent victim of a theft of his laptop containing his schoolwork and his backpack filled with school books has received support from total strangers who learned about his plight from KHQ.

Governor Appoints SFCC Graduate and Banking Executive to Community Colleges of Spokane Board

Governor Jay Inslee selected Steven Yoshihara, Senior Vice President for Washington Trust, to serve on the Board of Trustees for Community Colleges of Spokane. Yoshihara has worked in banking for nearly 40 years and currently works with businesses whose credit needs range from $250,000 to $25 million.
