Maggie Nelson McDonald is the current jumps and multis events coach at CCS. Her resume begins at Liberty High School in Spangle, WA where she competed as a four sport varsity letter winner. From there, Nelson McDonald competed for CCS during the 2017 & 2018 seasons where she was a multi & javelin thrower. She boasts multiple accolades: 2x NWAC javelin champion, NWAC runner-up in the heptathlon, 2x NWAC women’s team champion, & NWAC Athlete of the Week.
Nelson McDonald then took her talents and transferred to Eastern Washington University where she was coached by Dave Nielsen focusing on the multi events and javelin. In her final year of competition (’21-’22) Nelson McDonald broke the EWU school record in the indoor pentathlon (3,701 pts.) twice and earned All Big Sky Conference honors and placed 3rd at BSC. Outdoors, Nelson McDonald broke the heptathlon (5,173 pts.) school record twice and earned Big Sky Conference Athlete of the Week honors, All Big Sky Conference honors, and 3rd place in the heptathlon and javelin at BSC. She also qualified for D1 NCAA championships in the javelin with a PR of 159’. Nelson McDonald was also voted the Big Sky Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year.
Nelson McDonald will earn her M.S. in Athletic Administration Spring of ’23. She is happily married to her best friend, KJ McDonald.
