SipSwirl&Savor Makes more than $175,000 for CCS Foundation

The Community Colleges of Spokane Foundation held its largest fundraiser, SipSwirl&Savor, recently and raised a record $175,000. This year marked the 11th anniversary of SipSwirl&Savor, and since its inception, the event has raised over $875,000 for the Foundation and Colleges.

The funds raised at SipSwirl&Savor provide essential scholarships and support for Spokane Community College and Spokane Falls Community College students. The Foundation has awarded $2.2 million in scholarships to 10,000 students over the last five years.

The annual dinner and auction showcased the talents and training of students enrolled in the Inland Northwest Culinary Academy at SCC who served a four-course, gourmet dinner based on chocolate, with each dish featuring at least one chocolate element. The 240 guests also enjoyed specialty cocktails from Cocktails by Cody and wine from DeLille Cellars, Brian Carter Cellars and Betz Family Winery, all from the Woodinville region.

“Part of what makes SipSwirl&Savor so special and unique is the participation of the Inland Northwest Culinary Academy students and instructors,” said Krista Caro, CCS Foundation events coordinator. “Not only does INCA prepare and serve a truly decadent meal, they use it as a teaching and learning tool for the students. Very few events offer the quality of food our guests enjoy, and that is due entirely to INCA.”

STCU was title sponsor of the event. Other sponsors included Banner Bank, Modern Electric, Kalispel Tribe/Northern Quest Resort & Casino, Delta Air Lines, PotlatchDeltic, Scout Real Estate, Integrus Architecture, NWBDA, Wells Fargo Wealth Advisors, Inland Imaging, Empower, Fund Evaluation Group, Alliant Northwest, and Northwest Farm Credit Services.

Special thanks to Delta Air Lines, J. Travis Prewitt and Janice Gillingham of the Serendipity, Cadmar Creative, Jaime Johnson Events, Tom Greene, Rob Dietz, and Mark and Cindy Thompson and Prodigy Arrow.
