Personal bests for CCS track and field at Bigfoot Multi

Friday April 16 marked the final day of the two-day Bigfoot multi-event consisting of a seven-event heptathlon for women and a ten-event decathlon for men. Competing for the Sasquatch women was Homedale, Idaho sophomore Lainey Johnson. Johnson scored an additional 137 points over her previous best of 2,797 with a new lifetime best of 2,993 placing fifth overall in the meet and currently ranking third in the NWAC for the 2021 season. After almost two year removed from her high school track days at Homedale, Johnson has worked diligently to pick up the seven-event collegiate heptathlon.

On the men’s side, competing for the Sasquatch men was Mt. Spokane sophomore John Grieshaber. Grieshaber turned in a number of solid personal bests on day one in the 100-meter, running 11.53 and in the high jump clearing 4 feet and 9 inches. After a bit of a rough start in the 110-meter hurdles, John bounced back to pick up two solid event wins. First in the discus throw with a winning mark of 113 feet and 10 inches and then in an exciting pole vault with a season best jump of 13 feet and 11. 25 inches. His previous best score of 5, 011 remains the third best mark in the NWAC in 2021.

Up next for the Sasquatch is the Sam Adams Classic on Saturday April 17 at Whitworth University’s Boppell Track. The largest invitational track meet in the Pacific Northwest this spring will see a total of 28 teams competing with over 500 athletes signed up to compete.
