Community Colleges of Spokane Volleyball coach Jenni Rosselli-Hull has been selected as one of two West Region Coaches of the Year by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).
Coach Hull is now one of eight regional coaches who will be considered for the AVCA’s 2018 National Coach of the Year award, the AVCA announced in a news release Friday. Hull just finished her 14th season as head volleyball coach at CCS and led her team to an undefeated record of 40-0, only dropping 10 sets all year.
Her coaching skills were greatly challenged in mid-October when she broke her jaw in three places and had to have it wired shut for a month. She improvised, and coached through white boards, sign language and “odd whispers.”
“My assistants Katlyn, Lizzy and Carmen stepped up big time for our team,” Hull said. “Also we were lucky to bring back the legendary Irene Matlock to help oversee road trips, matches and some practices. She brought a stability to our program that was needed at a crucial time.”
This is Hull’s second major award from the AVCA. In 1996, she was named the AVCA Community Colleges National Player of the Year.
Her teams also won the 2009 and 2018 Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) titles.
