Community Colleges of Spokane (CCS) offers an exciting literary adventure in London where you can explore the best of old and modern Great Britain by studying the masterpiece of English literature in London. From William Shakespeare to J.K. Rowling, from Jane Austin to Charles Dickens, students are surrounded by the sights and sounds of London while studying the literature created here.

This program begins in Spokane with two weeks of study, which is followed by four weeks in London with excursions to nearby cities of Bath and Dover.

Program Details

You earn fully-transferable credits in literature and composition, and the instructors work with you to design individual schedules. The program is open to students from Spokane Community College (SCC) and SFCC. The program begins with summer study at SCC, followed by about four weeks in London.

You can earn between 2 and 12 credits in literature and writing, depending on how you and your instructors structure your program. Our program instructors will also work with you to find additional SCC and SFCC online summer courses if you are planning to take a full credit load during the summer.

As a program participant, you learn about the historical, cultural and social context for the texts you are studying. You also will view documentaries, visit museums, attend a performance at the Globe Theater and more.

We are happy to answer questions at any time during the academic year. We offer several informational meetings at SCC and SFCC winter quarter and meet with interested students during spring quarter to review program information and preparation.
