Dee Coffin, 1972-73-74

Dee attended Shadle Park High School where she was an outstanding three-sport athlete. She attended SFCC from 1972 to 1974 where she continued her athletic career in tennis, volleyball and basketball. One of the best three-sport athletes to ever compete at SFCC, she earned All-Pine League honors in basketball in both the 1972-73 and 1973-74 seasons. During the same two years she won the conference tennis championship at #1 singles and was an outstanding hitter on the volleyball team as well. Coffin returned as an instructor and coach at SFCC. She was the head volleyball coach from 1980 to 1983, leading the CCS volleyball team to the 1982 NWAACC title.

Paula Nickerson, Basketball, Volleyball, Track and Field 1977-78-79

Paula attended Rogers High School where she competed in three sports for the Pirates. She continued to excel in basketball, volleyball, and track and field at SFCC during the 1977-78-79 seasons. Paula was selected for the NWAACC basketball All- League Team in 1978-79 when she set a one-game rebounding record with 22 boards and accumulated 468 career points. Nickerson was an outstanding volleyball player for two seasons and competed on the track and field team as well. One of the best three-sport athletes to attend SFCC, she set the NWAACC shot put record at 43’3”and won the NWAACC high jump at 5’4” in her sophomore year.

Alice (Fuchs) Tibbles, 1979-80-81

Alice was recruited to SFCC by Head Coach Scott Foxley from Snohomish High School where she had earned All-State honors. Tibbles scored 286 points in her sophomore season at SFCC, and was selected to the All-Region Team after the 1980-81 season. She scored 541 points in her two-year career at CCS, setting a school record for that time. Alice was named the MVP for her team and continued her playing career at Gonzaga University.

Sheri McNeal, Women’s Basketball and Volleyball 1981-82-83

Coached by Mary Jo Tracy in 1981 and Dee Coffin in 1982 in volleyball, Sheri was named First Team NWAACC Volleyball All-Tournament in both 1981 and 1982. In addition, she played basketball for Coach Scott Foxley as they won the NWAACC Championship in basketball in 1983.

Beth Willard, 1981-82-83 

Beth graduated from Columbia High School in Richland, Washington, where she earned All-Big Nine honors. She played the 1981-82 and 1982-83 seasons at CCS for Head Coach Scott Foxley and earned All-Region honors both years. Willard helped lead CCS to the NWAACC tournament championship in 1982-83 and was selected to the All-Tournament Team. Beth scored 336 points in her sophomore season and was named team MVP and captain.

Robin (Jordan) Denning, 1982-83-84

Robin graduated from Richland High School where she earned All-Big Nine honors in both basketball and volleyball. One of the best two-sport athletes in CCS school history, she played volleyball for Coach Irene Matlock and basketball for Coach Scott Foxley. Robin’s outstanding play helped the basketball team to consecutive NWAACC championships and she was named to the All-Region Team both years. After a sensational sophomore tournament, Denning was named to the NWAACC All-Tournament Team and was selected MVP. An outstanding rebounder and scorer, she was also named team MVP at the end of the championship season. In addition, Robin led the Sasquatch volleyball team to the NWAACC tournament title in 1983-84, and was named to the All-NWAACC Volleyball Tournament team and selected as tournament MVP. She transferred to the University of Idaho where she was an All-Conference volleyball player and team MVP for the Vandals. Robin was elected to the NWAACC Hall of Fame in 1992.

Janet (Wolkey) Skaife, 1982-83-84

Janet graduated from Ferris High School where she was named the 1982 Female Athlete of the Year. She was the point guard for Head Coach Scott Foxley and helped lead her SFCC team to consecutive NWAACC basketball team championships in the 1982-83 and 1983-84 seasons. In her sophomore year, Skaife was named to the NWAACC All-Tournament Team and was appointed team captain. Skaife’s ability to find the open player and her uncanny outside shooting were instrumental in bringing two NWAACC titles back to Spokane. She returned to CCS to play two years of softball for the Sasquatch before playing basketball at EWU. Janet returned to coaching, first as basketball coach at Ferris High School and then as head coach of the CCS softball program where she won the NWAACC title in her first year.

Annette Helling, 1983-84

Annette attended Central Valley High School where she was the GSL MVP twice and was the WIAA State Champion in the 300 hurdles. She transferred to CCS from the University of Idaho for the 1983-84 season. One of the toughest competitors to ever play for the Sasquatch, she helped lead CCS to the NWAACC basketball title. At the end of the 1983-84 season, Helling was named to both the All-Region and the NWAACC All-Tournament Teams as well as being named team Most Inspirational Player. Annette was an outstanding three-sport star, coming back to CCS to play soccer at the age of 29. Helling went on to play basketball and run track at Whitworth University before earning her BA from EWU. Annette started a career of teaching and coaching in the Mead school district and is currently the head track coach at Mt. Spokane High School.

Kaylene (Krug) Hanson, 1983-84-85

Kaylene graduated from Cle Elum High School where she earned All-League honors. She had an outstanding career for the Sasquatch as both a top scorer and great rebounder. Kaylene played a major role in helping CCS win the NWAACC basketball title in 1983-84.  Her second year was even better as her dominating play inside helped lead CCS back to the NWAACC Tournament where CCS finished second. Krug was named Team Captain and team MVP in 1984-85. Based on her outstanding performance in the tournament she was named to the NWAACC All-Tournament Team. Krug was also named to the All-Region Team and was selected as the region MVP for the 1984-85 season.

Lanette Martin, 1984-85-86

Lanette graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane before being recruited to SFCC by Coach Scott Foxley. She played the 1984-85 season under Foxley and her sophomore season for Head Coach Paul Tikker. Martin helped lead the Sasquatch to the NWAACC Tournament in each of her two years, finishing second in 1984-85 and third in 1985-86. Lanette was a one-person press breaker. As a point guard, her ability to attack defenses and break them down often ended with lay-ups for her teammates or herself. Martin was selected for the NWAACC All-Region Team in both of her seasons at CCS and was the Team Captain in 1985-86. After graduation from SFCC, she was recruited to Central Washington University where she continued her outstanding collegiate basketball career. Martin is now working in Seattle at the VA hospital as a certified technician.

Yvette (Reeves) Buckley, 1985-86

Yvette graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane where she had been named First Team All-GSL and Female Athlete of the Year for Lewis and Clark her senior year. She was recruited to CCS by Head Coach Paul Tikker where she became one of the best post players to play for the Sasquatch. Buckley helped lead CCS to the NWAACC Tournament where they finished third and she was named to the NWAACC All-Tournament Team. That year, she proved to be one of the most dominant players in the league and was named to the NWAACC All-Region Team and was selected as team MVP. Buckley continued her playing career at Whitworth University where she received her BA degree in business. She has continued her personal success with a career in community service, education, coaching and working for the Spokane Tribe.

Sherri (Ives) McKay-Highers, 1986-87-88

Sherri was from Creston High School where she led her team to the State B title two years and was named to the All-State Team. She played the post position for Coach Paul Tikker at CCS and helped lead the Sasquatch to the NWAACC Region Championship in 1986-87 with an 11-1 record. Her scoring and rebounding skills helped CCS to the NWAACC Tournament in both of her seasons, finishing third in 1987 and fifth in 1988. Sherri set a single game scoring record for CCS with 38 points. She is still in the top five all-time CCS single season scoring record books with 516 points in 1987-88 and a career total of 878 points. After her outstanding sophomore season, she was named team MVP in 1988. Ives continued her playing career at Portland State University where she set several rebounding and blocked shots records before earning her BA degree. She currently is the CFO of the Chugach Electric Association in Anchorage, Alaska.

Tricia Nilles, 1989-90-91

Tricia graduated from Medical Lake High School where she was an outstanding athlete and has been named to her high school hall of fame. She continued her playing career at CCS where she became an excellent post player for Head Coach Bruce Johnson and Assistant Coach John Blake. Nilles set many CCS records in her career, ranking in the top five in single game scoring (34 points), single season scoring (483 points), and career rebounding (485 rebounds). She was named the team MVP in both her years at CCS and was named to the NWAACC All-Region First Team in 1990-91. Nilles helped lead her team to a 23-9 record and a fourth-place finish in the NWAACC Tournament in her sophomore season. She continued her higher education and playing career at Whitworth University.

Holley (Wais) White, 1990-91-92

Holley was from Colville High School where she had been selected to the All-League Team in her senior year. She continued her playing career at CCS under Coach Bruce Johnson where she set many college records and gained numerous honors. In her two years as a Sasquatch, she set CCS records for most field goals in one game (16), single season (229) and career (426). Wais also gained top five all-time records with 33 points in a single game, 494 points in a single season and 841 career points. She was named to the NWAACC All-Region First Team and the NWAACC All-Star Team in 1991-92, as well as being selected as team MVP. Wais continued her playing and higher education career at Lewis-Clark State College (Idaho) after graduation from CCS.

Shelly (Massingale) Martin, 1995-96-97

Shelly was from Kennewick High School where she was an All-Big Nine basketball selection and won the WIAA State Championship in the javelin. She was recruited to CCS by Coach Bruce Johnson who helped develop her into a Hall of Fame basketball player as well as a track star. Massingale set many CCS scoring records including single season scoring (556 points), career scoring (923 points), and most free throws in season (140) and career (234). She was selected as the team MVP at the end of her sophomore season, and Massingale was named to the NWAACC All-Region Team in both of her years at CCS. She helped lead CCS to a fourth-place finish in the NWAACC Tournament in 1997-98 and was named to the NWAACC All-Tournament Team.

Amy (George) Bender, 1998-99-00

Amy was from Ferris High School where she was named the girls basketball Greater Spokane League MVP in 1998. She continued her outstanding playing career at CCS under Coach Bruce Johnson where she helped lead the Sasquatch to consecutive NWAACC Tournament appearances. Bender ranks third in career rebounds with 476 and was named the co-MVP for CCS after the 1999-2000 season. She was selected to the NWAACC All-Tournament Team in 1998-99 when CCS finished sixth and again in 1999-2000 when they won the second place trophy. Bender was also named to the NWAACC All-Region Team after both of her seasons at CCS. She continued her education and playing career at Cal State University-San Bernardino, where she was named the Women’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2001 and 2002. Bender is finishing her PhD from WSU in experimental psychology.

Bernice (Stime) Tobeck, 1998-99-00

Bernice graduated from Riverside High School where she had been an All-League basketball player. A two-sport star at CCS, she played basketball for Coach Bruce Johnson and was the #1 singles player in tennis for Coach Wally Heidenson. Tobeck helped lead the Sasquatch to their best season in history (28-4), winning the Eastern Region Championship and finishing second in the NWAACC Tournament in 1999-2000. She won NWAACC All-Region and NWAACC All-Tournament honors and was selected as team co-MVP. “Bernie” continued her higher education and playing career at Gonzaga University where she starred in both tennis and basketball for the Zags. She came back to CCS as a longtime assistant basketball coach who played a major role in the success achieved by the women’s team.

Lindsay Weiss, 1999-00-01 

Lindsay came to CCS from Goldendale High School where she had been an All-League and All State performer in volleyball and basketball. Weiss was a great scorer for Coach Bruce Johnson, ranking in the top five all-time with 34 points in a single game and 534 points in a single season. She helped lead CCS to a 23-10 record and a fourth-place finish in the NWAACC Tournament. Weiss was named NWAACC First Team All-Region and was the Region MVP. She was also selected to the NWAACC All-Star Team and named the team MVP at the end of the 2001-02 season. Weiss continued her playing career at Central Washington University after graduating from CCS. Lindsay has started a career in college basketball coaching and is currently an assistant coach at Bradley University.

Katie Rodgers, 2002-03-04

Katie graduated from Central Valley High School in the Spokane Valley where her teams won two straight WIAA State Championships. She was named to the WIAA All-State Team in her sophomore and senior years. One of the top scorers to ever play for Coach Bruce Johnson, she set many CCS scoring records. She averaged 17.8 ppg (CCS record) in her sophomore season and is in the top five all-time CCS record list with 892 points in her career. Rodgers was selected Team Captain in 2003-04 and team MVP after her freshman year. She helped lead CCS to consecutive NWAACC Tournament appearances where they finished fourth and fifth. Katie’s outstanding play earned her NWAACC All-Region Team honors in both seasons and she was selected NWAACC All-Tournament after her second year. Rodgers continued her playing career at Carroll College in Helena, Montana where she was twice named to the All-Conference Academic Team and helped them to two national tournament appearances.

Riley Holsinger, 2012-13-14

Riley Holsinger arrived on the SFCC campus after an outstanding prep career at North Center High School in Spokane where she was a two-time All-Greater Spokane League first-team selection. As a transfer from Boise State University, Holsinger quickly established herself as one of the best in CCS history by setting records in career scoring average (18.5 point per game), career shot blocks (117), and Career Steals (171). As a sophomore Holsinger led the NWAC in scoring at 22 points per game, and was named the NWAC Baden Women’s Basketball Player of the Year. She finished the season with a remarkable NWAC Top-20 in six different categories; points-per-game, shot blocks, free-throw shooting, steals, assists, and rebounds. Riley was voted CCS Team Most Valuable Player in both her freshman and sophomore seasons. Holsinger transferred to Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, California where she was named Player of the Year in the Golden State Athletic Conference in 2015. Riley is currently working on her Master’s Degree and serves as an Assistant Coach for the SFCC Women’s Basketball program.
