Student Success Workshops
These are workshops that help college students be more successful. They include: Time Management, Study Skills, Note Taking, Self-Esteem Building, and many others. These workshops are offered at various times and locations on the Spokane Community College campus. Please see our calendar page for specifics.

FYI - First Year Introduction
This is a new student orientation that will include some of the workshops which help students learn how to be successful in college. This program has proven to be effective at assisting students at other local colleges. It provides information about college life, along with helpful tips about being a college student.

Each year at Thanksgiving, the Associated Student Council puts together baskets of food for SCC students and their families who are in need. The baskets contain turkey gift certificates and trimmings for a Thanksgiving meal. Sign-ups for the Thanksgiving Baskets normally begin in October and are on a first come-first serviced basis.

Gifts for the Tree of Sharing are donated by SCC students, faculty, staff, and administration, as well as various SCC clubs and organizations.Christmas santa small Sign-ups for the Tree of Sharing are held in November of each year.

Student Health Center

The Student Health Center is open to all currently enrolled SCC and SFCC students. It is a walk-in clinic that provides limited health care services by Washington State licensed nurse practitioners (ARNPs). Services include diagnosis and management of minor illness and injury, interval management of stable chronic illness, simple diagnostic testing including urinalysis and pregnancy testing, clearance for return to school or work, TB testing, health promotion services and referrals (e.g., smoking cessation, stress management, and weight and nutrition management), and required Health Science program and Department of Transportation physical exams. Competitive sports physicals are not included. Nurse Most services will be provided at no cost to SCC and SFCC students.

Depending on vaccine availability, some immunizations will be available for students at a reduced cost. Please go to Health Center website for details.

Services offered at Bigfoot Head Start include:

  • Early Head Start for children from 6 weeks to 3 years of age
  • Head Start for children 3 to 5 years of age
  • Summer child care for children through 12 years of age
    Children are accepted regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, or disability.

Hours:

Head Start and Early Head Start are in operation fall, winter, and spring quarters Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

Summer operations include Head Start, Early Head Start, and school-age care. Hours of operation during summer quarter are Monday through Thursday from 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

Fruit Food

SCC Food Bank/

The Food Bank is available to SCC students who need emergency assistance. Supplied through ASC funds as well as by donation, the food bank stocks non-perishable items. SCC students may access the food bank three times per quarter and should contact the ASC Director of Emergency Services at 533-8913 for more information.
