Placement Testing Outcomes Analysis
The OIR has initiated a multi-phase study assessing student outcomes resulting from the combination of placement testing scores and the
classes students choose to take. In this initial phase, pathway analysis was used to track the progression of new freshmen liberal arts
students who entered SCC during the 2004-05 academic year, through developmental reading, writing, and mathematics
Retention and Completion Study
The OIR is currently conducting a study of the graduation, continuation, and attrition trends of students entering SCC during fall quarters.
Entering students are classified into various cohorts, such as first-time, first-year freshmen, new liberal arts transfer degree-seekers, etc.,
and tracked for five years. These summary reports display and plot results for cohorts entering from 1995 through 2004. These data are
preliminary and the contents of this section will change over time.
