Built on the wealth of lumber, mining and the railroads at the turn of the century, Spokane today
is a cultural and commercial hub for eastern Washington, northern Idaho, western Montana, and southern
Alberta and British Columbia.
With a metropolitan population of 418,000, Spokane is the second-largest city in the state of
Washington and serves as a major regional center for health care, banking and transportation.
Do!
Get involved. Get active. Meet people. Have fun!
SCC offers a wide selection of extracurricular activities, including concerts, campus
special events and multicultural programs. There's something happening almost every day
of the week during the school year.
In addition, you can explore a variety of special interests through our many student clubs.
Two recreational facilities - The Lair-Student Center (TV lounge, video arcade, ping pong and
pool tables, and bowling alley) and Walter S. Johnson Sports Center (Olympic-size swimming pool,
weight room and fitness center, two gyms, indoor and outdoor running tracks, tennis courts and
playing fields) - see lots of action. These facilities support both intramural sports and
Community Colleges of Spokane's intercollegiate sports program for men and women.
One way or the other, we think there's definitely a place for you at SCC.
