Budgeting for Your Education

How much will you pay to attend Spokane Community College? The cost differs for everyone based on current tuition rates, your residency status, financial aid package, school fees, your program of study, cost of books and your cost of living. To start calculating your costs, use the information below for the current school year, then subtract your amount of financial assistance you will receive. For a faster way to estimate your costs, try our Net Price Calculator.

Residency Status

Your residency status determines how much tuition you pay. If you're a U.S. citizen and your residency status is from another state, you pay nonresident tuition fees.

State Support of Higher Education

See the average cost to educate a resident full-time community or technical college student for the current academic year and the sources of all institutional revenue received during the prior academic year on our Right To Know page.

Fees Explained

Your total tuition cost is a combination of the Washington state tuition collected by the State Board of Community and Technical Colleges and SCC fees that help support things like student programs. The student body often votes on how these fees are used. Take a look at our current fees for a breakdown of what your money supports.

Waivers

Tuition waivers allow certain people or groups of people to receive reduced tuition costs. Common waivers include children of totally disabled or POW/MIA or deceased eligible veterans or national guard members, children and spouses of deceased or disabled law enforcement or fire fighters, wrongfully convicted persons, space available waivers (Washington state employees and senior citizens looking to audit a course) and others. For detailed information on waivers, visit the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges waivers page.

Tax Credits

Tax credits can help reduce the cost of your education by reducing the amount of taxable income your family needs to pay. We don't post information on tax credits because it is always changing. Talk to your accountant for details on deducting your tuition.
