Thank you for choosing Spokane Community College!

You must complete an Application for Admission form:

  • if you never attended SCC for credit classes
  • if more than three years have passed since you last applied

Apply early!

  • Summer 2016 admission application deadline: June 14, 2016
    Applications submitted after this date will automatically be processed for fall quarter.
  • Fall 2016 admission application deadline: August 29, 2016
    Applications submitted after this date will automatically be processed for winter quarter.
  • Winter 2017 admission application deadline: December 13, 2016
    Applications submitted after this date will automatically be processed for spring quarter.
  • Spring 2017 admission application deadline: March 13, 2017
    Applications submitted after this date will automatically be processed for summer quarter.

Your registration appointment (registration access time) as a new student is based on the date you complete your admission requirements. Admission to SCC is contingent on achieving qualifying placement test scores (see testing requirements and information) or official college transcripts showing completion of English and math with a 2.0 or higher. To find out whether you can waive the placement test, refer to the Placement Options tab.

Individuals convicted of sex or kidnapping offenses are required to self-disclose such status to the Director of Student Development ((509) 533-7081) prior to admission as a condition of enrollment. Failure to comply may be grounds for denial of admission or expulsion from CCS.

If you are a U.S. citizen, Immigrant/Permanent Resident Alien, or a Refugee/Parolee Alien and would like to apply using a paper form, please visit the Office of Admissions in Building 15 on the SCC campus for assistance.

English placement testing is NOT required for:

Recent High School Graduates (within 3 years) with any of the following.

  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above for at least 7 semesters*
  • SAT scores of 470 points or higher average of reading and writing scores*
  • ACT scores of a 19 points or higher average of the English and writing scores*
  • Smarter Balanced scores of Level 2 (with a B or higher in Senior English), Level 3 or Level 4*

Running Start students with any of the following.

  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above for at least 3 semesters*
  • SAT scores of 470 points or higher average of reading and writing scores*
  • ACT scores of a 19 points or higher average of the English and writing scores*
  • Smarter Balanced scores of Level 3 or Level 4*

Returning SCC or SFCC students (within 3 years) with the following.

  • Qualifying placement testing scores within the last three years
  • Completion of English and Math course work with a 2.0 or better at SCC or SFCC

Other college students (within 3 years) with the following.

  • Qualifying COMPASS or ASSET placement test scores from tests taken at another facility**
  • In some cases, completion of English at another college or university***
  • Previous English or math placement at any Washington State Community or Technical College within one year of testing***

Math placement testing is NOT required for:

Recent High School Graduates (within 1 year) with any of the following.

  • 2 consecutive semesters in the full annual sequence of Pre-Calculus with a 3.0 or better
  • Smarter Balanced scores of Level 2 (with a 3.0 or higher in a bridge course), Level 3 or Level 4

Running Start students with any of the following.

  • 2 consecutive semesters in the full annual sequence of Pre-Calculus with a 3.0 or better
  • Smarter Balanced scores of Level 3 or Level 4

Returning SCC or SFCC students (within 3 years) with the following.

  • Qualifying placement testing scores within the last three years
  • Completion of Math course work with a 2.0 or better at SCC or SFCC

Other college students (within 3 years) with the following.

  • Qualifying COMPASS or ASSET placement test scores from tests taken at another facility
  • In some cases, completion of math at another college or university
  • Previous English or math placement at any Washington State Community or Technical College within one year of testing***

Programs Not Requiring Placement Testing

Some programs do not require placement testing for entry. Please check this list to see if your program qualifies. If your plans for college degree program are undecided, you should test.


* High school transcripts and SAT, ACT and Smarter Balanced scores must be submitted to the SCC Testing Center. You may bring them in, fax, mail or email.

** Compass and Asset testing results from facilities other than SFCC and SCC must be sent by the testing institution to the Testing Center either via fax or mail.

*** Official transcripts from other colleges and universities must be submitted to the SCC Transcript Office for evaluation:
